Weston Powell
Weston is a civil litigator and the founding lawyer of Powell Litigation.
His firm helps individuals and small to medium-sized businesses in Southern Ontario who are involved in lawsuits as plaintiffs or defendants.
For people unfamiliar with the court system, there are essentially two kinds of lawyers: those who sit at desks drafting documents (wills, contracts, etc.) and those who represent you in court when things go wrong. You could think of it as the difference between a carpenter and a firefighter. They both work with wood, but their jobs are very different. For Weston, the choice was obvious. He’s passionate about fighting fires.
In addition to being a renowned trial lawyer, Weston is also a sought after speaker, regularly presenting before other lawyers at professional development events as well as being brought in house for speaking engagements at various companies.
When he’s not in the office or the courtroom, you can find him walking in the woods with his wife, Caroline, their two-year-old daughter, Berkeley, and their dog, Zoey.
In 2020, Weston was voted the Best Lawyer in the Toronto Star Readers’ Choice Awards.
Bryan Whealen
Bryan proudly serves as Powell Litigation’s most experienced litigator, drawing upon decades of experience. His previous work experience includes a role with the Federal Government in Ottawa as Special Assistant to the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, as well as inhouse counsel to Mortgage Lenders in Toronto.
Bryan has personally overseen over 500 mortgage enforcements during the course of his career and practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation.
His considerable professional accomplishments aside, Bryan is perhaps most proud of quitting smoking cold turkey 32 years ago.
Siddharth Joshi
Siddharth (Sid) has spent countless hours working on complex civil and commercial litigations representing individuals and corporations. He is passionate about helping individuals and small to medium-sized businesses manage legal risk and resolve disputes.
In his spare time, Sid loves learning about other cultures and reading world history. He is also an avid soccer fan and a life-long Arsenal FC supporter.
His multilingual capabilities allow him to serve clients in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
Eric Blau
Eric is a career litigator with over 5 years’ experience, including conducting trials in the Superior Court of Justice.
Eric brings tenacity and care to bear in joining Powell Litigation’s high standards of passionate and effective advocacy.
In his spare time, Eric likes playing Scrabble, spending time with his wife and new daughter, and tackling Fermi problems.
Ocean Enbar
Ocean is a proud graduate of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law. Prior to joining Powell Litigation as an articling student, Ocean was the President of the Law Students’ Society of Ontario, where he represented thousands of law students across the province.
Ocean brings unparalleled drive and determination to his practice and fights hard for his clients.
When he is not working, Ocean enjoys reading and crushing his opponents at chess.
Rhea Mathew
Rhea is a reformed corporate lawyer turned litigator. She has worked on complex and high-stakes commercial and civil litigations, arbitrations, and mediations.
Rhea has represented individuals and multinational corporations across industries including real estate, information technology, banking and financial services, and aerospace and defence. At Powell Litigation, Rhea handles a variety of contractual disputes, real estate disputes, and defamation files.
Angela Aguila
Angela is a very impressive legal assistant with Powell Litigation. Fluent in both English and Tagalog, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Criminology, Law and Society, and Sociology from the University of Toronto. Prior to that, she ran a successful real estate corporation.
Angela is often the first point of contact for prospective clients of the firm and she prides herself on delivering exceptional service and professionalism in all of her interactions.
Rachel Mangal
As office manager at Powell Litigation, Rachel is an integral part of the team. She works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the firm delivers on all of its promises.
When she’s not working, Rachel enjoys reading and drawing and is currently teaching herself to play the guitar.
